NONLIN is a program for computing the nonlinear dynamic response to simple structural systems. The program is designed for educational use. Capabilities include inelastic response history analysis of SDOF and MDOF systems with a variety of hysteretic behaviors. The program allows for easy input of ground motions, and provides a suite of ground motion analysis tools. Systems may be analyzed incrementally for several ground motions, or may be analyzed for a single ground motion but with varying system parameters. Other options include blast loading analysis, analysis under user specified dynamic loads, and evaluation of modal response characteristics for proportionally and nonproportionally damped systems.
NONLIN Pro is a powerful pre-and post-processor for the well known DRAIN-2Dx program. Models may be generated interactively, analyzed, and reviewed through a single graphical interface. Responses histories are obtained by a single mouse click for any node or element. Element hysteretic behavior is obtained in a similar manner. The user may animate the system response showing the sequence of inelastic hinging, as well as color-coded demand to capacity ratios for the yielding regions.
EQTools is a program for the selection, evaluation, and modification of ground motions. The program contains more than 1000 records in its database. EQTools also has a variety of capabilities related to displaying ground motion attenuation relationships. Incorporated into the program is WAVES, a tool for assessing the influence of local site characteristics on ground motions. EQTools is password protected. The password used to enable the program is “merlin”.
